On October 14, 2011 at approximately 11:00 a.m. at a seasonal pumpkin patch lot on the corner of Peyton Dr and Grand Ave in Chino Hills, Ca 91709, an electric air mover was plugged in to fill an inflatable jumper. At approximately 1:00 p.m. a fire was discovered in or near the electric air mover, inflatable jumper and a blue tarp. The fire was extinguished with a nearby fire extinguisher.
Damage was to the electric air mover, inflatable jumper and blue tarp. No injuries were reported and no one was in the jumper at the time of the incident.
Notes: Both the electric air mover and jumper were new and used only a few hours the day before.
The only remaining portion of the electric air mover was the metal blower and a section of the cord.
A blue tarp is used at night after closing to cover the jumper and electric air mover to prevent dew from accumulating on the equipment.
Eye witness accounts state it appeared the blower had tipped and was covered by the blue tarp when the fire was discovered.
