The product, in the report: Zeta By Jacko Model 50420 Pocket Jump Starter Kit

I was Charging my ZETA By Jacko Pocket Jump Starter. Plug it in about 9pm and was awakened by smoke detectors at 1AM. The unit was on the kitchen counter on fire with about a 16” flame coming off it igniting the cabinetry. I was able to extinguish the fire and open windows. A very close call. I have a damaged counter Top and Cabinets and also smoke damage to walls and ceiling. The smell of burnt plastic and wires in the home is incredible.

  6. No one hurt

Made Jan 14, 2016, sent to the company Jan 27, 2016, published by CPSC Feb 11, 2016

The product, in the report: It is the Zeta pocket jump starter and usb charger made by Jacko. It is a white rectangular charger, with an led light on the front along with a USB port and a port to plug in the jumper cables. On the back there is a sticker that has its specifications. It reads- Model: ZT50400 Start Current: 200A PECK Current: 400A Output: 5V--2A Input: 12V--1A Battery Capacity: 8000mAh

I used my Jacko portable jump starter on a regular basis because I worked in an automotive shop. I also used it to charge my phone when needed. I went to use it today, (1/14/16) and it was dead. I noticed that the side of it seemed to be pushed out a bit like the battery had expanded in it. When I got home I plugged it in, and the led light flickered and it began making a weird buzzing sound so I unplugged it and looked online what seemed to be going on.
