The product, in the report: Schumacher SJ1583 jump starter

Walmart is acting in BAD FAITH. I bought a battery jump starter, it was delivered damaged, the 110 VOLT AC plug to charge it is broken, it is loose, you cannot plug it in and it’s supposed to retract into the case, it remains exposed at all times, potentially a SHOCK HAZARD. It is part of the case, not fixable. It also has a DC battery in it, it may be live at all times. The wiring’s got to be correct. Walmart keeps wanting me to return it by mail, I responded I don’t have a box, the original shipping box is damaged, the listing says “return to the store with 90 days”, I told them I don’t have a box or packing so I agreed to take it to the closest store, 135 miles away, but At the store I spent 45 minutes at the customer service counter with online customer service on speakerphone, they said the item is “not returnable”. This is not a Marketplace item but something they stock at the store. They could have done an exchange right then. When I got home I realized there was something leaking out of the charger. This model, although available with a solid state battery like a cell phone, has a LEAD ACID BATTERY like the one in your car. The leak caused damage to my clothes, the carpets, floor mats, anything it touched. It is now HAZARDOUS WASTE. They keep wanting me to either mail it or return it to the store again anyway. It is against the law to mail it, I’m not sure if it’s within the law to transport it, but I don’t want to risk personal injury. This should have never been mailed. The shipping box was unusable because it had no structural integrity, I realize now because parts of it got wet. The bubble wrap was deflated allowing the item to bounce around and be damaged, either popped by the weight of the item or possibly melted by the acid. This thing was a Biohazard to whoever touched it, and it was shipped to a [REDACTED] authorized dealer which was a [REDACTED], held behind the counter by a store clerk. Then they advised me that I don’t have to return it, but, I need to hold it for three or four days. I explained that I have dogs and children come here, they don’t care. 4 days later the only emails I’ve gotten from Walmart is how was your call with... (who’s ever name of whatever person I spoke to last). I called the [REDACTED], Insurance that I bought who wouldn’t cover me until after 30 days, now it’s 33 days, they told me that I wouldn’t have to return it but they want me to keep it for ANOTHER 10 days even after I told him how dangerous it is. I don’t want the liability of it. I emptied my plastic trash can, put it in there, taped it shut and I’m waiting for somebody to pick it up and bring it to [REDACTED] or similar, as that’s where I was advised to dispose of it as an acid-filled Automotive battery. Just on the basis of the charging plug being damaged this item is useless, dangerous as a shock hazard, and leaking (apparently) acid, it needs to be disposed of as HAZARDOUS WASTE. Walmart is acting in BAD FAITH, they keep on printing me barcodes with a 5-day expiration, I think this is a trick so when they receive it, whether by mail or to the store, the barcode is expired and they can deny the return on that basis. They are also creating LIABILITY for myself and posing a HAZARD to anyone who may come in contact with this item as they are aware of the ACID LEAKING from it. I’m elderly, disabled and don’t drive. I didn’t buy it to jump start a car, I bought it because it has a cigarette lighter plug so I can use my CPAP machine in an emergency if the power goes out. I made a total of 10 phone calls to Walmart including waiting 30 minutes to speak to a supervisor and 45 minutes at the store. I tried emailing the president of Walmart, his email is blocked. I tried emailing the Executive Vice President and CEO with no reply. I’m looking for legal recourse at this point, not only for myself but they’re putting a lot of people In Harm’s Way I don’t know if should be considered irresponsible when you know it’s a Biohazard.
