As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No incident, no one hurt

Made Jan 17, 2017, sent to the company Mar 31, 2017, published by CPSC Apr 14, 2017

The product, in the report: 7 Function Digital Multi-meter

I am a consumer reporting a safety concern by email.

    1. An error in the manual for this manufacturer’s brand of digital multimeter may cause a consumer to incorrectly set the selector, resulting in an incorrect reading. On page 6 of the manual sheet, under Resistance Measurements, step 1 reads “Turn the Range Selector Switch to the 200 mA position.” Instead of mA, it should read “ohm” or have the omega symbol. There is a 200 mA position, but that should not be used for measuring resistance.

    2. The bottom of each page states, “For replacement parts, please call 1-800-444-3353. But at the bottom of page 7 (last page) is “NOTE: No replacement parts are available for this tool.” and below it is “For replacement parts, please call 1-800-444-3353.

They need to replace their replacement statement.

    3. The rotary selector knob has a full diameter indicator handle. If a consumer is looking directly over it, the bottom of the handle can be mistaken for the top and the wrong selection could result A bright dot or contrasting color for the indicator pointer would prevent selection of 200 ohms instead of the intended 750 AC V.
