The product, in the report: This product is used to manually lift the bicycle up to the ceiling for storage. There are 2 plates that are secured to the ceiling, with pulleys with one with a lock on one end to secure the rope that’s used to lift the bicycle to the ceiling. Each connection point has a series of two brackets that hook to the bicycle on the handle bar and one on the seat. These brackets are 1/8” aluminum about 3/8” wide, and about 6” long, covered in black vinyl tubing to prevent marring the finish on the bike.
This is a hoist used to store bicycles from the ceiling in a garage. There is a series of pulleys and a rope, with a hook that connects to the bicycle to lift and store the bicycle. One of the metal brackets that holds the bicycle up straightened up, and the bike fell on our car, causing $1133 in damage.
The damage is minimal compared to what could have happened had it fallen on my 2 1/2 year old grandson.
The product doesn’t appear to have any form of safety latch that secures the bicycle to the lift to prevent this from happening.
