The product, in the report: Vision 40W Enclosed Laser Cutter and Engraver Machine with HD Smart Camera, Air Assist, Laser Bed, 600mm/s Batch Process Speed, Diode Desktop Laser Cutter for Wood, Acrylic, Metal, Leather Visit the WECREAT Store
On October 14th I was using my laser to cut a template of a small purse. A 4.2mm MDF board was placed inside. The settings were as follows: Power - 100% Speed - 7 (it usually self populates to “5”, but since its a 40 watt, I always up the speed a bit) Passes - 1
The machine is located in my garage near the garage door so the smoke can exit via the hose. I keep my garage door open when using. The air extractor is programmed to turn on when the machine is turned on. So when I press the start button both the machine and the air extractor start.
I performed auto focus. When that was done (my laptop is in my kitchen just off the garage) I went out to the machine and pressed the start button.
I stayed right outside the garage door (which was open) and waited for a gentleman to pick up a driveway full of lumber I no longer needed/used. There was ALOT of pieces (some little, some 2x4x10’), so we were both picking them up and placing them in his pick up truck which was backed into my driveway; thus about 14 feet from the garage door. When he first arrived he looked at the machine and asked, “What’s that?”. I presume it was because he saw some smoke coming out of the air extractor tube.I told him about my starting a laser engraving business. Then we proceeded to go back and forth to his truck with armfulls of lumber. About 10 minutes into doing so, as he turned he said, “Uhm...I think you have a problem...”. I turned, screamed, “oh my God!”. Flames about 2 feet high were coming up out of the top of the machine and my garage was starting to fill with smoke. I ran into the garage (its a 2 car garage) to retrieve a fire extinguisher. It was hard to see with the smoke, my eyes watering, and coughing. The man had put a thick piece of plywood over the top to subdue the flames which were continuously getting larger. The man could see and hear my panic and took the fire extinguisher and began spraying. It took a few minutes for the fire to somewhat subside, but then it would start again. I unplugged the machine and pulled out the water hose because the fire extinguisher was running out. That finally put the fire totally out. In the meantime, a neighbor had called the fire department. The fire was out by the time they arrived, but they inspected the machine and all the area around it including my ceiling for damage. The fire department pulled the table on which the laser sat (this was partially melted through...the table). Some wood sheets close to the machine, intended to be used in the laser, were burned and charred. As well as a project for my son’s birthday and a friend’s upcoming birthday.
The fire department instructed me to NOT pull the table and the laser back INTO the garage under any circumstances. So it remains in my driveway. My garage and the main level of my home still smell of smoke and burnt plastic.
To say I was terrified is an understatement. I thank GOD that man was right there when it happened because I don’t know if I could have saved my garage and house by myself before the fire department arrived. I had my 2 beloved dogs in my house which had me further panicked. I ALERTED THE COMPANY, “WE CREATE” (Laser Vision 40 W machine) via email and confirmed this machine had NO built in excessive heat/fire alert or auto stop safety function. I assumed it had because nearly EVERY OTHER LASER ON THE MARKET HAS THIS!!!
