Emergency room Made Oct 18, 2019, sent to the company Nov 14, 2019, published by CPSC Nov 29, 2019
The product, in the report: It’s a black and decker (2amp) 5 inch random orbital sander and the model number is BDERO100
I was using my black and decker sander on a piece of wood and the sander started going really really fast. Like hyper speed fast. It never should have gone that fast. When it touched the wood it was going so fast it bounced off of the wood and hit my knee and split it wide open. (The disk Part of the orbital sander) I had to go to the ER and get an X-RAY and 6 staples on my right knee. I can barley walk (it’s right on my knee cap preventing me from bending my knee) I can’t even drive. I have a 3 year old that I can’t even chase around. I have pictures that I can send and the model number of the sander and whatnot. I bought it only a few months ago.

No one hurt Made Oct 7, 2014, sent to the company Oct 16, 2014, published by CPSC Oct 30, 2014
The product, in the report: 5” Palm Grip Random Orbital Sander
I was using a Black & Decker RO100 5” Palm Grip Random Orbital Sander to sand paint on my house exterior. I thought the sander might be rotating faster than usual and sounded louder, but was not sure. Sometime later, as I was sanding, the black disc which holds the sand paper broke off from the sander and flew away. Since luckily I was not the path of the object, I was not hurt, but the speed at which it flew off had the potential to cause serious facial or other injury.
