The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: SimpliSafe Smoke and CO Listener Model CA011

Hi, I have a complaint in regards to a component certified by ETL. It is the Simplisafe smoke and CO listener model CA011 which states on the back ETL Intertek Conforms to UL STD 985 ULC S545. My understanding is these standards require the listener to operate with UL listed smoke and CO alarms when mounted properly via the installation instructions. I do not believe this device actually meets these requirements, I have had simplisafe replace the listener device multiple times and it has never successfully alerted to a test initiated smoke or CO signal from the actual detectors. I believe this is a defective product, which has life safety implications (failed dispatch of emergency services during a fire or CO leak event) and should be recalled. Please contact me for further information, I have multiple phone call recordings clearly showing the device has a defective design. Because this is a self-install device, I believe most people that install it do not properly test it and assume it will work, so there is a low rate of failed or defective device reports to simplisafe. Nevertheless, it should be investigated and recalled as soon as possible, as it failing to operate properly has life-safety implications.
