The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: White Nest Protect 120v Wired - with Battery Backup

I have 4 Nest Protect Smoke and CO2 alarms throughout my house. In the first 6 months of ownership I have now had 3 problems with 3 different units. 1 problem was caused by dust build up (which resulted in a sensor failure “chirp”), however 2 units completed malfunctioned (on two separate dates), resulting in a false “emergency” situation.

When the false emergency situation goes off, you cannot shut it off, you can only remove the batteries to silence the alarm. Since all the units are interconnected every unit goes off, and you have to remove the power and batteries from every single unit. So, because of this malfunction I have no smoke protection in my house at the moment.

When I contacted the Nest Protect Support team, they mentioned that there was a batch of bad units that were sent out, and that some people were having problems. I have contacted Nest and have demanded a full refund (they are processing my request), but I want to make sure others are protected. Can you please review and see if a recall is needed for this product (or at least for the “bad batch” that was released)?
