The product, in the report: Bright-way indoor/outdoor timer
I have, for many months, had a string of lights plugged into an extension cord on my deck. Both are rated for outdoor use and the extension cord was plugged into an outdoor socket. I added a Bright-Way indoor/outdoor timer on Monday evening (purchased at Marcs). At 5 pm, just when the timer was set to turn the lights on, I heard a loud, strange noise and moments later, a neighbor came to the door and said she saw arcing and flames on my porch. Flames were gone by the time I got there but there is a scorch mark the size of a basketball and the extension cord is charred and melted.
