No one hurt Made Dec 8, 2013, sent to the company Dec 17, 2013, published by CPSC Jan 2, 2014
The product, in the report: Stanley Security (Best) Locksets/door handles; Chrome/Stainless color Model: 6K/7KC Privacy button door handle/lock I don’t know the name of the distributor to our condo building, but I am trying to find out. We have approx 200 condos in our building.
Similar to recall Alert #11-725, our door lock failed on our laundry room door on November 24, 2013. It was a privacy lock, and the button had accidentally been pressed in. A screwdriver failed to open it, and it was impossible to open the door. Since 2 neighbors had the same issue, I am concerned this could happen to others. Luckily I was not on the inside (since my toddler was running around on the outside) but was scary to think how long I could have been locked in, if that had happened.
A handyman came the next day to completely remove the handle from the door and disassemble it.
Our locks were not in the recall dates above, since our condo was built in 2007 (though we were the first to own/live in our condo last May, 2012) we were past the warranty dates as well, though the company agreed to replace all of the locksets in our condo.
Manufacturer: Stanley Security Solutions Inc. Lock: 6K/7KC Date on lock: Sept 26, 2007 Stainless finish
