The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Aug 16, 2017, sent to the company Sep 12, 2017, published by CPSC Sep 26, 2017

The product, in the report: Made-in-China Zapals Carbon Monoxide Detector does not function reliably. Ref.: https://www.zapals.com/lcd-display-carbon-monoxide-detector-co-alarm.html?geoip_country=US&gclid=CjwKCAjw2s_MBRA5EiwAmWIac9U_IEQD7bUd05r3IAVA_v1p3aw8GkncxjzbPZsiSuf5OWILrpXJxRoCq04QAvD_BwE The Zapals Carbon Monoxide (CO) detector arrived about 2 weeks after the online order was submitted. A critical part required for its operation fell out of the box. This was a sign of shoddy manufacturing and lack of quality control. I figured out where the part belonged, a spring-like dual terminal used for making contact with two of the three batteries required for its operation. But when I put it back together the detector functioned intermittently. The spring contacts would not reliably stay in the place causing intermittent operability. I sent seven emails Zapals with photos describing the problem and asking for a replacement. Zapals refused to replace the faulty CO detector and asked instead for proof of the intermittent operation including a video of the malfunction as it occurred. Zapals knows well I cannot supply them a video of the intermittent operation, an effort way exceeding the cost $6.99 of their CO detector. As this product directly impacts safety-of-life I ask you to test this product’s reliability and safety of using this product for detecting deadly Carbon Monoxide before allowing Zapal.com to continue exporting this made-in-China product to the U.S.
