How badly anyone was hurt

  • No one hurt 4 CPSC: Incident, No Injury

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: White, 5-6 inches. battery compartment on back. Hard wired.

Product: Kidde smoke and CO alarm. Date of manufacture: August 2012

The alarm announced FIRE when there is no fire present. This happened for about 3 minutes and then it stopped. It happened again 3 hours later, stopped, and happened again about 10 minutes later. We have changed the backup battery and it has been quiet for about a half-hour.

The alarm has been recalled for another reason. I noticed report of a similar situation on this site from August 2017.

  3. No one hurt

Made Sep 7, 2015, sent to the company Sep 15, 2015, published by CPSC Sep 29, 2015

The product, in the report: A white smoke and fire alarm made by Kidde alarms.

As we came home on Saturday evening we heard the fire alarms go off. After several types of attempts at silencing them, they shut off, except one. It chirped every 30s the rest of the night. It was finally disconnected Sunday morning with the help of a neighbor. Our poor cat was certainly in terror over this ordeal. Why didn’t Kidde notify the builder that there was a problem with the product. I have heard two other homes in the community with the alarms sounding.
