Made Feb 8, 2018, sent to the company Jun 1, 2018, published by CPSC Jun 15, 2018

The product, in the report: Simplisafe wireless smoke detector (link below) https://simplisafe.com/smoke-detector

I have a been a Simplisafe customer since 2016 and have had burglar alarm and fire detection systems in 2 of my homes. In July 2017 i purchased a Simplisafe alarm system with their smoke detectors (link below). I installed the system and it functioned fine until October 29th, 2017 when i routinely tested the smoke detector in my basement and it did not make any sound and did not trigger an alarm. I reported it to simplisafe that day and they sent a replacement and return shipping tags for the old one. I installed the new smoke detector and it worked find until 2/5/18 when i did a routine test and the detector made no noise and did not trigger an alarm. I called Simplisafe customer service to complain and report the defect as well as the concern for the safety of my entire family. They sent out two free replacements, return shipping tags for the defective unit and apologized for the inconvenience. I have installed the replacement smoke detectors and purchased several stand alone 10 year sealed battery smoke detectors for my home since i am no longer confident that the Simplisafe smoke detectors work properly. I am filing this complaint in fear that someday someone may fall victim to the fault smoke detectors and be injured or killed. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or if you need my help to pursue this matter.
