The product, in the report: The product is a white round smoke alarm. The test button is in the center of the device with a red ring around the test button. There are three short curved venting holes radiating from the tdst button on one side. Written on the surface in raised white letters is “ROTATE TO REMOVE DO NOT PAINT ROTATE TO TIGHTEN.” The product is wall mounted and powered by a removeable 9 volt battery.
I purchased smoke detectors from Amazon in March of 2023. I tested them using the test button and installed them. Recently (March 11th 2024), we had a microwave fire that filled our downstairs with smoke. It was very difficult to breath, especially in the kitchen and could be seen with the naked eye. Unfortunatley, none of our smoke detectors went off. Today I wanted to ensure that the alarms were faulty. I used the test button to ensure the chirping mechanism was working; it was. I then held the alarms directly above visibly smoking wood. None of them went off. I looked at the reviews on the amazon listing where I purchased the alarms and see that there are multiple reviews with the same issues as me. One reviewer reported these alarms not going off durring a major house fire. I worry that this may not be a batch issue, but a completley fraudulant product.
