The product, in the report: To whom it may concern, I am writing today to report the sale of defective smoke detectors on Amazon.com. I am concerned because Amazon is still offering these for sale, which could result in injury, property damage, or death. I purchased six smoke detectors from Amazon. The detectors were bought in batches of three on the following dates: September 19, 2023 October 11, 2023 After receiving these smoke detectors, I installed them throughout my house. I became suspicious when the one installed in my kitchen failed to activate when we accidentally burned some food on the stove, filling the kitchen with smoke. I then tested several of the smoke detectors by holding them over a smoky fire in my backyard, and discovered that none of the smoke detectors would go off. I then contacted Amazon on 11/24/2023, and informed them of all of the information I’ve provided above. I also asked them to remove the listed smoke detectors. Unfortunately, instead of removing these defective items, Amazon is instead promoting them as a “Cyber Monday Deal”. You can access this listing at the following link: [REDACTED] The title for the listing is “3 Pack Smoke Detector Battery Operated with Photoelectric Sensor and Silence Button, Travel Portable”. Please feel free to contact me at the provided email address, or by phone at [REDACTED] if you need any additional information for the purpose of holding Amazon accountable for this flagrant disregard for consumer safety. Sincerely, [REDACTED]
