The product, in the report: ESL/Interlogix 541NCSXT Smoke Detector- Mfg. date- 14155
I purchased a case of ESL/Interlogix 541NCSXT hard wired smoke detectors, and had them professionally installed in my home by my alarm company. The units all had a manufacture date of 14155 which meant they were constructed on the 155th day of 2014. Of the case of ten, we’ve had 3 malfunction with numerous false trips. My repeated calls to ESL/Interlogix tech support has yielded no explanation as to why 30% of my newly installed smoke detectors would fail. Since these units activated improperly for no credible reason, I can’t assume the other units will operate as designed.
Here is a quote from the distributor I purchased the units from: “they haven’t gotten back to us on what could be the issue with them. it may be a bad lot but if you have this many going bad on after the other I would assume they never fully corrected the issue that the units had that put them on manufacturer hold to begin with”.
As a retired fire fighter, I urge you to look into this situation as the company has a history of selling defective units that resulted in recalls!
