The product, in the report: Kidde 5lb ABC Fire extinguisher. Plastic handle broke
I have a fully charged Kidde 5lb ABC fire extinguisher. Model XL 5TZ, Serial # 0559006051. I picked up the unit to transport and the plastic handle broke in two. The unit cannot be used.
I contacted Kidde using email on Sept 26, 2012 about this concern. A [REDACTED] replied (email) stating that this unit was Mfg in 2005 and is out of warranty and recommended that I purchase a new one.
I did not contact them requesting a new extinguisher whereas I consider this a safety item when the unit would not function in an emergency condition although I asked “What do you recommend”.
I am filing this in concern that there maybe others that have the same condition. Hopefully not.
