The product, in the report: Bathroom faucet
We had two separate Price-Pfister faucets cause terrible leaks in our new home due to a design issue with their faucets. Please allow me to explain:
Unlike other manufacturers, Price-Pfister uses plastic connectors to connect to the hot and cold water plumbing supply lines. These plastic connectors fail in two different ways:
1) They crack releasing a fine un-obstructed water stream that runs continuously. Because it is under a cabinet it goes unnoticed for days causing the walls to fill with water. 2) The connector completely breaks causing the water supply line to shoot water like a fire hose.
We experienced both of these types connector failures in our home on two separate occasions and on two separate Price-Pfister faucets (same model number). Both leaks occurred on the hot water supply line to the faucet. I believe this is because the plastic connectors cannot take the temperature transitions of the Hot water line.
Allow me to explain. 1 - (02/20/2016) The first leak incident was a tiny crack that ran un-noticed and unobstructed for days. It filled the walls, floors and ceilings of our home with water all the way from the second floor to the basement. This is dangerous because it could easily fill electrical outlets and or ceiling light fix causing a shock or death. Worse, the water traveled under the floors where we couldn’t see it. We could have easily been standing in the water hidden under the surface and gotten a shock if we went to use an electrical appliance. Again this not only soaked the second floor, it soaked the first and eventually the basement near the electrical panel, another shock hazard.
2 - (10/11/2016) During the second leak incident, a large piece of the entire connector broke off causing the hot water to run at full force while the supply hose shot water everywhere. Fortunately my wife was in our bedroom and quickly went to the bedroom to investigate the noise. Unfortunately she was burned by the hot water when she opened the cabinet door. She had marks all over her chest, neck and side of her face.
Both of these fixtures were in the same double sink vanity in our master bedroom. They were installed by a licensed plumber and both plastic connectors broke at the Hot water supply line. I have pictures and more details if needed. I contacted Price-Pfister about the issue and provided them and their insurance carrier with details. They initially would only pay for the second failure because I no longer had the original failing faucet. When I argued their carrier accused me of making up the first failure. I objected and sent additional proof and I was shocked when I received letter of denial and refusal to repair the damage to my new home. They ran tests on the second faucet but would not tell me or send me the results of the test. There is a lot more proof I have and details on how Price-Pfister acted unethically in handling this case. I have a lot more details regarding their faucet, and the failure if you need them. This has caused injury to my wife and damage to my home and it really need to be investigated.
I have attached some documentation regarding this incident and i have a lot more if needed. I spoke to Price-Pfister directly who forwarded me to their insurance agent. Their insurance agent first approved one of the claims but not the other one they accused me of lying and fraud. I went back to Price-Pfister and they blew me off and told me to get a lawyer. Their insurance company told me to contact the NJ division of Banking and Real estate and they advised me to get the test results of the faucet I sent in to Price-PFister. Price-PFister would not send them to me so the NJ division of Banking and Real estate advised me to get a lawyer. That not withstanding there is a serious design issue with their faucets that has cause physical harm and it needs to be investigated by experienced professionals with the knowledge and authority to make Price-PFister comply and reveal any other issues with ts faucets.
