The product, in the report: https://www.bestbuy.com/product/vinyl-works-22-inch-junior-resin-multi-purpose-home-spa-and-hot-tub-steps-brown/JX6WX4GKPY/sku/11766856
The product is a two-tier resin step unit sold for entering and exiting hot tubs and spas. It is advertised as having snap-lock construction that snaps together with absolutely no hardware or tools. In use, the snap-lock interlock does not hold. The step tiers separate and shift laterally under the weight of a person climbing, and there is no provided means to secure the tiers together. Multiple adults in my household and guests have fallen or lost footing when the tiers came apart underfoot while entering or exiting a hot tub. The failure occurs during ordinary, intended use at well under the advertised 300 lb capacity. Because the product’s sole function is safe elevated access to water, and the failure occurs on wet surfaces next to a hot tub, I believe it presents a serious fall hazard, including to elderly users and children (the listing states a minimum age of 3 years). Purchased May 7, 2026 from BestBuy.com (third-party seller Spreetail, LLC), order [REDACTED]. The seller acknowledged my complaint and promised a response within 12 business days but never followed up (nearly three weeks of silence), and the retailer has refused a remedy.
