Hurt, no treatment Made Nov 3, 2024, sent to the company Nov 12, 2024, published by CPSC Nov 26, 2024
The product, in the report: Bestway (Hong Kong) International Ltd AirJet Pump, purchased at Costco of Brandywine, Maryland in November 2022
While attempting to use my SaluSpa hot tub as directed, I and another person experienced scalding water temperature when the AirJet pump and heating unit was set to 104 degrees F. The actual temperature of the water was not measured at the time but was estimated to be closer to 115-120 degrees F. The ambient temperature of the outside air was around 40 degrees F. I stepped in fully unknowing of the water temperature and immediately got out of the hot tub, noticing that my lower body appeared to have first degree burns. The burns were not severe enough for me to seek medical attention, but I did experience pain for the following two or three hours following the incident. I’m now aware of the safety recall on this product and wonder if this has something to do with a faulty heating element or thermostat of the AirJet unit. I did not photograph my injuries at the time of the incident.

No incident, no one hurt Made Oct 16, 2024, sent to the company Oct 21, 2024, published by CPSC Nov 4, 2024
The product, in the report: This is the Saluspa Ibiza Airjet inflatable 4-6 person hot tub with a Bestway P07000 pump, Model #S100105
We were draining a recalled hot tub (the Saluspa Ibiza) so that we could move forward with the recall on the pump. I noticed tiny little wisps of smoke from the window, went outside to investigate, and the cord of the pump had burned and was continuing to burn a 6x3” hole through our back porch. It looked like a smoldering campfire. The hot tub was turned off, but still plugged in, and my husband was draining it. This left a roughly 6 inch by 3 inch hole burned between 2 deck boards on our back porch. I have no idea how long it had been burning, but it was fine at about 1:15 pm. (This occurred around 5 pm.) The cord was melted through, stuck to a side of one of the pieces of wood, and still actively burning. You couldn’t smell or hear anything, even right in front of it, and you could only see the occasional wisp of smoke. Had I not noticed, my entire house could’ve caught fire.
