The product, in the report: Coast Spa,,, Hot Tub used outside

The recall was made my made by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission in 2007 under number Release #07-177 Approximately one month ago, early October, I was in my spa when there was a scraping noise and smoke came out of my spa. When I removed the hatch, my dual speed motor was smoking and some flames inside. I called my spa manufacture, Coast Spa out of British Columbia. When I told him the age of the spa, he asked me to go to a website and fill in the information and the site to see if I had a recall motor in my spa. In 2007 I found a recall on my spa and went online to check out the recall and I did have my single motor code that was on the recall list. I was informed not to use my spa until they replace the motor, which I did and a new motor was installed.

on this occasion I did go on line again and fill out my spa model number and date code on my two speed motor and again there was a recall on my motor. When I contacted the Coast Spa repair, I was told that the recall was only for the single pump and not the two speed pump, although the date codes were the same. I was informed that my spa pump would not be replaced as that motor was not on the recall list, even though it did catch fire on my. There was no damage done to the spa, just a burned out motor.
