The product, in the report: The product in question are the touchscreen control units installed in Master Spas hot tubs and swim spas. They source them from Balboa and classified as their SpaTouch, SpaTouch2, SpaTouch2T, ST2, MP8 and MP9 units.
We have now had two touch panels go bad in our Master Spas Momentum 80 Swim Spa. The touch panels have a defective design that allows water to penetrate the units that renders them unusable and probably unsafe considering you’re dealing with electronics and water. The number of complaints in online forums especially the Master Spas [REDACTED] is alarming. Master Spas has even switched vendors where they source touch panels from (From Balboa to Gecko) which indicates that they are aware of the known defects and continued to sell them to consumers. The cost to replace each panel is $400+. Even if it’s covered under warranty they require the consumer to pay for labor and a “trip fee”.
