    The product, in the report: Bullfrog A8 Spa , brown, 7’ 10” x 7’ 10” x 3’ 2” with CoverMate 3 cover lift system

I bought a Bullfrog spa with a CoverMate 3 locking cover lift system. The safety lock mechanism on the installed cover-lift system failed while five of my grandchildren, all under the age of nine, were in the spa. I was immediately adjacent to the spa at the time and was able to intervene before it closed on top of them. The failure involved the cover lifter locking mechanism - which is visibly cracked/broken - probably from excessive winds that happen in our area. The lock mechanism is no longer reliably performing its intended function - which easily could have resulted in an injury or drowning incident. I contacted Bullfrog and they stated that the lock mechanism is fine - even though I sent a picture of the cracked part. They didn’t even send a service technician to look at the problem - simply stated they’ve never had a problem before and blew it off as my problem. I consider this a significant safety concern because the failure occurred while five young children were in the spa. A failure of the cover-lift locking mechanism could allow the cover/lifter assembly to move or fall unexpectedly, creating a potential injury or drowning hazard and potentially interfering with safe access to or exit from the spa.
