The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Aug 1, 2020, sent to the company Aug 14, 2020, published by CPSC Aug 28, 2020

The product, in the report: Movadari forrest live edge bench

immediately upon assembling and using, our Modavari Forrest Live Edge Benches proved to be unsteady unless body positioned directly center of bench. Both my children and my mother tipped on the benches. This is due to base of legs being narrower than bench and top.

My 3-year-old son was getting off the bench when the bench suddenly flipped on its side hitting my son’s toe.

  3. Emergency room

Made Feb 21, 2020, sent to the company Mar 12, 2020, published by CPSC Mar 26, 2020

The product, in the report: Dining room set bench. Brand name: Modavari. Sold by Smith’s Marketplace in Bountiful, Utah. Division of Kroger.

We purchased a Dining Room Set from Smith’s Marketplace in the Bountiful Utah store. The store is a division of Kroger. I contacted the store and filled out a report, the claim number the store manager provided me is [REDACTED]. We Purchased the Dining Table and 2 Benches. The products brand name is Modavari. The Benches have a very horrible design. They are very top-heavy and tip over very easily. The top of the bench is solid wood, very heavy and the legs are angled in at the bottom. I almost fell over once and my wife did fall over and hurt her back. Last Sunday, January 19th the bench fell over and landed on my 9-year-old Granddaughters toe and almost completely severed the big toe off. We took her to the Emergency Room and they had to sew it back on. The medical bill for the Emergency room was over $1100.00. I am sure there will be more Medical Bills to come. I have Photos of the Bench and of my Granddaughters severed toe. I feel very strongly that this product should be taken off the market ASAP so no one else gets seriously injured.
