  1. Hurt, care not known

Made Feb 21, 2015, sent to the company Mar 2, 2015, published by CPSC Mar 17, 2015

The product, in the report: Venus II full armls slpr-0325-25A-Sierra Herbal. (Brand name) Full armless sleeper sofa

The sofa bed is built with a metal frame, with a canvas upon which the mattress sets. Part of the canvas contains embedded metal rods. Metal coil springs are used on the right side of the frame, and attach to the canvas, going over the embedded rods so they do not pull through the canvas. There is room for tension when folding and unfolding the mattress.

The top frame of the mattress uses solid metal rods, which also rely upon the embedded metal rods to support the canvas. There is no allowance for tension. The left side of the frame has open metal rods, with an open fishhook style loop which attaches to the canvas, putting tension on the embedded metal rod. This has caused a smal flesh wound as the metal rods tore against the canvas and pulled a large portion of the embedded rod, leaving it exposed as a sharp metal spike.

The sofa bed is now unusable due to instability, and the danger created by a spike of metal exposed from the mattress support.
