The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Couch Cover - Blue - Velvet Non-Skid Pet Throw Sofa Purchased From Target delivered 10/6/17

I am notifying you of this product defect only because the company will not return my emails or [REDACTED] messages. I have repeatedly assured them I am not interested in pursuing any form of legal action. I don’t want money, I don’t want anything other than for them to take corrective action before someone else is hurt. This is exactly what I stated to the company five days after surgery concerning the indicdent:

Hi [REDACTED], I want to let you know about an accident I had with one of your couch covers. I sent an email through your website last month but didn’t hear from anyone. I want to make it explicitly clear I’m not interested in any sort of litigation or anything like that. I’m sending you this information out of concern. It was a silly accident, I’m blessed with insurance, and short term disability, financial resources to support myself, and most importantly my foot will heal. I really just want to explain to you what happened, and how it happened, because I’m afraid someone else could get hurt, and that person may be hurt significantly worse, or might not be in the position I am financially, or be blessed with insurance. The couch covers are great, and I am still using them even as I type this message because they do exactly what they are supposed to. I love them. I’m not upset with surefit because I don’t think y’all would have any way of knowing the cover can stick to the floor, until someone told you. I bought a 12x 10 rug and now should the cover come loose it won’t make contact with the floor. Problem solved! But I think there really needs to be a warning label stating the slip cover can adhere to wood or maybe y’all could possibly chemically change the silicone grips so that my accident does not reoccur. The right arm of my couch cover was knocked to the floor by my 120+ pound dog. Unbeknownst to me the grips on the cover adhere to my textured wood floor. I got up to let our puppy out and my left great toe became caught in the remote pocket. Because the arm was stuck to the floor I tripped and broke my left toe at the first MTP joint on 8/3/18. I was placed in a boot and because I’m only 31 the orthopedist figured it would heal without surgery. Unfortunately that did not happen, I had surgery 9/21 to remove bone fragments and to reattach a tendon. I’m fine. My follow up today was great, I should get my stitches removed next week. But after talking to the surgeon I really felt called to reach out to y’all again. This was a freak accident. But it’s a freak accident that could happen again and could really hurt someone or a pet. I will send you whatever you need to understand what happened. I really do not want to see anyone else hurt and am hoping a warning or label can be added to the covers advising people not to use them on wood floors without a rug. Again I’m not interested in doing anything other than preventing other people from being hurt. I’m going to send several attachments to this message of the specific items. Thank you for reading this message, and for hopefully looking into how to best promote awareness about preventing this type of incident from recurring.

Happy Wednesday, [REDACTED]” unfortunately I have gone on to develop additional issues including an infection, a varus deformity, and an allergic reaction to steri strips. Someone is going to get hurt. It’s not a matter of if it’s a matter if when. I’m begging you please force this company to warn people .
