First aid Made Aug 5, 2026, sent to the company Aug 10, 2026, published by CPSC Aug 24, 2026
The product, in the report: A brown gates sectional couch with a console, a corner wedge and 3 recliners.
I purchased a gates sectional from raymour and flanigan less then a year ago. since then both my wife and myself have been cut to the point of bleeding profusely due to the reclining mechanism of the couch while cleaning. This is not a hidden component when the couch is reclined it is fully exposed. We have an infant who plays directly infront of the couch when it is open we must keep him far away as it is at eye level and if he was to approach it as children like to explore he would be severely hurt. The edges are all stamped and never had the burs removed it is like a seraded knife edge. The couch is used normaly and cleaned regularly which is how these injuries occured... we informed raymour and flanigan they did not reply however after i called they sent a technician out who informed us “they are all like that” took a few photos and left never got any more contact after that.. this is a massive health and saftey issue and is actively puting 2 adults and a child at risk of deep lacerations
(8/10/2026) Hi i am writing to inform you the issue with raymour and flanigan has been resolved since the time of reporting... they had a quick change of heart once being informed of the report and acted quickly to removed the item from our home and replace it with one that does not have the issue.. it is a shame people need to go to such lengths, anyhow thank you for the assistance. If posible i would like to mark this resolved.
