The product, in the report: Model number 051612323 FRNZ Omega Cho DBL RCLN PWR SOFA Model Number 080812301 FRNZ OMega Choc DBL Love with power
I purchased an Omega Chocolate DBL Recliner Power Sofa from Hanks Furniture in Rogers, AR72756. Also at same time purchased an Omega Chocolate DBL Love seat with power. When we purchased it no one routed the electrical wires or tied them up. We were unaware that the wires were loose and could pose a hazard. After a couple times of plugging them in, my grandson and I were sitting in the floor beside the sofa and someone in the chair pushed the power button. Fire flew from under the sofa and there was a loud pop. I quickly moved my grandson to see if he was ok and then immediately unplugged the cord. After examining the plug I found two cuts in the wiring where it had pinched on the framework of the recliner. I called Hanks and they replaced the wire, sent someone out to reroute and tie up the cord in different places. The service person only used wire ties to tie it up. Again without realizing it had come undone I plugged it in to turn it on but when I saw the excess wire, I decided to check it out first. Sure enough there were two more cuts in the wiring. I called them again to tell them this furniture was a hazard and unsafe. Manager said he would send me a new cord again but I would have to pay for the labor of a service person to rewire and tie up the cord again. I don’t care about the cost of the wire or the cost of the furniture but this furniture is a fire hazard and could have electrocuted my grandson. When I picked up the cord they were several other cords behind the counter. Don’t think this was the first time this had happened. I just want someone to check this out.
