  1. No one hurt

Made Jun 1, 2015, sent to the company Jun 19, 2015, published by CPSC Jul 6, 2015

The product, in the report: Lane reclining sofa, model #32739/4148-21, Griffin Walnut, 82” long, without pillows.

On 4/30/2015 my husband and I purchased a Lane reclining sofa (model 32739/4148-21) from Mathis Brothers furniture store in Indio, CA.

On 5/17/2015 the sofa was delivered by Mathis Brothers.

On 5/26/2015 my husband and I were both seated on the sofa with the footrests extended in the reclining position. When we stood up and depressed the footrests, the sofa tipped forward. My husband caught the sofa before it tipped over on us. This also happened when we were not using the footrests, but merely standing up at the same time. It appears this is safety issue as the sofa starts to tip forward as we shift our weight forward.

Mathis Brothers furniture was advised on 5/27/2015 of this situation. The store scheduled a technician to come out and inspect the sofa.
