The product, in the report: Campaign Sofa in Flat Weave / Pebble Grey with Maple legs https://www.campaignliving.com/products/modern-sofa

I purchased a sofa from Campaign and it arrived on June 3, 2020. On March 6, 2021, the bottom of the sofa dropped out from under my husband while he was sitting on it. The bottom of the sofa is a steel rectangle that rests on four ~1.5 inch pegs (two in front and two in back). It is held in place by a beam that runs across the front of the sofa. The beam is made out of foam wrapped in fabric. Over time, the foam beam started to rotate forward allowing the steel frame to slide off the back peg on one side, causing my husband to fall through. He caught himself on the arm of the sofa and was not injured, but easily could have been if he were not so quick to catch himself. We also have kittens who sleep and play under the sofa often and they could have been killed (but were fortunately not under it at the time). We use the sofa for sitting/lounging, nothing out of the ordinary. We’ve never approached the weight limit of the sofa (listed as 1,800 pounds on Campaign’s site) with ourselves or the guests we’ve had sit on it.

On March 6, I contacted Campaign’s customer service telling them what happened. They never replied. Around 3 weeks later, I detailed what happened in a product review on their website. They never published my review. On March 29, they wrote to me:

    “ Hi [REDACTED] ,

We just came across your review and are sorry to hear you have had some issues with your sofa.

It sounds like the foam on the front beam has come loose allowing the seat tray to slide out. We are currently redesigning the front beam so that this issue can never happen again. We should have the new front beam available by June and would be happy to send you one then.

In the meantime to avoid another collapse can you please remove the cover and secure the foam to the front beam by using some tape or even zip ties for better hold.

Hope this helps, please let us know if there is anything else you need.

    Best, [REDACTED]”

I replied that I would like the new beam sent to me and provided my shipping address. On June 15, I wrote:

    “ Hi [REDACTED],

Will the replacement front beam still be available this month?

    Thanks, [REDACTED]”

    They replied: “ Hi [REDACTED],

We apologize again for the issues with your front beam. Unfortunately we probably won’t have the new front beam restocked until August.

As soon as we get them we will send one to you and update you with tracking once it’s on the way. Hope this helps, please let us know if there is anything else you need.

    Best, [REDACTED]”
