The product, in the report: Wyatt & Ash Washable Indoor Area Rug Darya Style 5 x 7 Gray/Neutral color tones. Labeled and marketed as machine washable. Sold through Costco. Product disintegrated during wash, releasing white plastic-like particles into washer.

I purchased a Wyatt & Ash washable indoor rug (5x7) sold through Costco. After following all labeled instructions precisely, I washed it in my household washing machine using a small amount of Free & Clear detergent. During the wash cycle, the rug began disintegrating, releasing large amounts of plastic-like debris that coated the interior drum and entered the outflow system.

After removing the rug, I discovered fine plastic particles resembling microbeads scattered throughout the machine and laundry area. I spent over an hour manually vacuuming and wiping debris from the drum, but some remains lodged in the machines vent and drainage areas. Since then, my machine has begun displaying intermittent error codes, which were not present before.

Ive since found numerous reviews from other verified buyers reporting identical issuesincluding potential appliance damage and environmental concerns from the shedding material. The manufacturer (Wyatt & Ash) has denied receiving complaints and refused to take responsibility. This product is advertised as washable, yet its failure presents a potential hazard to consumer appliances and the release of plastic particulate matter into homes and possibly wastewater systems.
