  1. Hurt, care not known

Made Sep 5, 2011, published by CPSC Sep 27, 2011

The product, in the report: Pottery Barn Wool Rug--made in India --jungle friends-- I think made around 5-6 years ago.

I purchased a Pottery Barn Jungle Friends wool rug made in India off of craig’s list about 2 months ago to use in my unborn babies room. As soon as I got home with it my husband began to comment that something in the room was making him cough and had an odd smell. It took us a little while to put together that the smell was coming from the rug. We then set it outside in the sun to let it “air out” for a couple hours. We were thinking the people we had purchased it from just had an odd smell to their house the rug had picked up. However this airing out did nothing for the smell and as people came over to see the nursery they also commented how the rug had an odd chemical smell. At this point I got online to see how to get a wool rug not to smell, still not suspecting that it was this pottery barn rug specifically just wool rugs in general. But after finding your site as well as many others with people sharing there stories of pottery barn rugs we have decided to just throw the rug in the garage rather than risk using/selling it to someone else.
