The product, in the report: motion dining chair/swivel rocking chair

This consumer is reporting his dining chair/swivel rocking chair given to him as a gift August 2016. He has now been informed that the friends who gave him his chair also gifted three others with the chairs because they didn’t fit in with their décor and that all of the other three chairs also were discovered to be unsafe. Around the end of May 2017 the caller was leaned back in the chair as he had many times before but this time he heard a snap, he instinctively leaned forward which steadied the chair but since he had no idea what had happened he leaned back just a very little and the chair went backward taking him with it. He was not injured because he had instinctively steadied the chair and when it went backward he rolled to the side to roll out of the chair. Once he was out of the chair he noticed that the round part of the base of the chair had four welds that had broken loose and all four were extremely sharp. He is reporting this chair as a potentially hazardous product because the user could become injured very easily and if the fall did not injury them then the user could be lacerated by the welds. The caller has not contacted the manufacturer because he cannot as yet find any way to contact them.
