The product, in the report: Vender CHEE 5228 Glenn FB 2pwr Recliner Power recliner (power module)
I was sitting in a power recliner. I had just put the recliner down. I went outside for about 10 minutes. I came back in and smelt a electronic burn smell. I traced it to the recliner control buttons and immediately unplugged the recliner from the wall. I removed the control box which was still hot. I found a hole burnt through the control box casing (hard plastic) and a burn hole through the recliner material and the stuffing slightly singed. No injuries. I also unplugged my sofa which is identical to the recliner. The part that smoldered there are 4 on each controller (total of 12). 1 controller on the recliner and 2 on the sofa. The furniture is under warranty a little over 2 years old. Pristine condition I’m the only one that lives here. The furniture has no abuse or anything ever split on it. They sent pictures to MOR Furniture protection and said that it would take up to 4 months to get the part in and it would be sent directly to my address. If I could not install it to call them and it would be another 3 to 4 weeks to get a service tech out to install. I also sent a email to MOR Furniture but they have not responded (3 days ago). I’m not sure I want to put this control module back in unless they are safe. So here I sit with a recliner and a sofa recliner that I cannot use. I keep thinking what if I had gone to bed when this happened.
