The product, in the report: Signature Design by Ashley Game Zone Faux Leather Adjustable Power Reclining Sofa with Cup Holders and Storage, Brown. Size: e 85”W x 40”D x 44”H. This is the description from Amazon: “If youre looking for the perfect seat for gaming, lounging or just relaxing, look no further than the indulgent comfort of this power reclining sofa. Sporting one-touch power controls, Easy View power adjustable headrests, cup holders, storage and chargers, this dual-sided reclining sofa has everything you need for binge-watching or power playing. Padded cushions with waterfall back design and pillow top arms offer plenty of support, while leather alternative upholstery is given tuck and roll styling for a well-edited aesthetic. The stationary middle seat has hidden depths, just fold it forward to reveal a table-top with cup holders, USB charging a storage pocket and overhead lights. Hows that for handy.”
The first concerning symptom about our Signature Design by Ashley (Furniture) Game Zone Reclining Sofa occurred when we tried to use the electrical outlet located in the headrest to charge a USB device. The device not only would not charge properly, but the device (an Internet hot spot) became extremely hot to the touch. Upon discovering this fact, we disconnected the device from the sofa. We charged the hot spot later via a standard, non-couch electrical source and we did not have any further overheating issues. The next cause for concern was the burning, electrical odor that occurs when reclining the sofa. The intensity of the odor has become very noticeable, and nothing else is causing the electrical/burning smell. Every time we power the recliner, the sofa emits this same concerning burning odor. We are extremely concerned for our safety, and we unplugged the sofa from the electrical source. This is a very unsafe product. My husband and I use this couch, and we used this to recline. Now we only recline the sofa manually in the up position on one side and not in the up position on the other side due to our concerns about this product. While no one was injured by the sofa, the electrical, burning odor has made us so concerned that we do not have the sofa connected to an electrical outlet. We wonder what injuries could have occurred if we still used this unsafe product; we are unwilling to take that risk. The symptoms of the Game Zone couch sound too similar to the recently recalled [REDACTED] couch, also made by Ashley Furniture. We should be refunded, as we are unable to use the recliner as it is intended. We spent over $1,400 on this defective product. We are reporting this product to warn others about this unsafe product. Hurt, no treatment Made Jan 8, 2018, sent to the company Mar 27, 2018, published by CPSC Apr 10, 2018
The product, in the report: Signature design by Ashley recliner
On 11/11/17 I purchased a recliner from Ashley Home store I picked it up at the warehouse on 11/15/17 I put it in my living room and whenever I sat in it I noticed a strong odor coming from it after about a week I noticed every time I sat in it I started feeling sick from the odor. In Dec. about 2 weeks before Christmas I put the chair outside for 2 weeks then brought it back in and tried setting in it again and I still started getting sick from the odor when I sat in it. I went down to their store and and told them what was going on they told me they would call me later in the day and tell me what they was willing to do so I went home. They called me a couple of hours later and told me they would air it out in their warehouse or exchange it for a restocking fee. I believe the odor is from formaldehyde which is highly toxic in the home as of right now the chair is setting on my porch. I do not think I should pay a restocking fee for a product that is toxic to my health. I think I have decided that I would just like to get my money back

Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Mar 19, 2014, sent to the company Apr 25, 2014, published by CPSC May 9, 2014
The product, in the report: Rocker-Recliner Chairs
Caller is reporting unsafe condition of a black chair that is one of two chairs she purchased August 29th, 2013. She had no problems the first month or so but then black dust particles from the size of dust to the largest being the size of breakfast grits began coming off of one of the chairs. Around the end of September the caller began noticing that there was black dusting on her right arm, her posterior and her back whenever she sat in the chair. As time went on the dust from the chair began showing up in drinks, food then on other piece of furniture. She noticed around the same time that black dust was appearing in her ears, nose and mouth after she had been sitting in the one chair. She put a piece of duct tape on the arm of the chair and when she pulled it off it was covered with the black residue. The second chair was not coming apart as badly but her partner sat in this one there was black on her arm and the backs broke out in a rash which she had treated by Dr. [REDACTED] of Okala, Fl after he diagnosed allergic reaction. The caller is asking that this chair be inspected, recalled and that she be reimbursed her monies because the store has offered only replacement or $400.00 for two chairs when she paid just $2 short $800.
Caller has not been seen by a physician, her partner has been and was diagnosed with allergic reaction She has not contacted the manufacturer but does intend to contact them
