The product, in the report: Jerome’s Furniture Double Recliner
The consumer indicates that the leather surface and color of his double recliner is peeling off so he bought leather vinyl material and made it into a cover for the head area of the unit. In order to do so, the consumer put some [REDACTED]underneath on the back and on the bottom however within two weeks the glue he used turned to goo and the cover slipped off. The consumer is concerned that whatever chemical is used on the recliner is too harsh.
The consumer contacted the Manufacturer and explained the situation; the representative he spoke to informed him that they could not assist him because the unit was no longer under warranty.
The consumer states that the product is used for about eight hours daily.
The consumer plans on keeping the recliner for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.
Please add the following: When I bought the leather duel recliner couch from Jerome’s 7/1/19 I had the expectations that (as my last leather couch had done) it would last 10 years plus aging with character. However after about 8 months the dark brown color around the head area started rubbing off to the touch. I also noticed that my neck started getting itchy. Over the next several months I developed a rash on my neck. You see I lie down length wise and nap on it as well as watch TV for about 6 hours a day. NOTE: I use natural [REDACTED] shampoo and conditioner(the same for 22 years) and have very short hair. The is nothing in my hair. No gels etc. As the color kept flaking off (see photos) and my neck itching got worse I went to my doctor. They said it was from contact with something harsh. I contacted Jerome’s and told them of the problem. They said the 1 year warranty was up by about 45 days and gave me a number of a repair guy. While still itching and scratching, because I can’t afford another $1800 couch, I decided to make a cover. So I used a similar material to make a cover for the damaged area which I attached with quality [REDACTED]. In a short few weeks the glue holding the [REDACTED] turned to a tacky sticky mess from contact with the couch, and the cover fell off. So I tried a vinyl glue used to hold vinyl covers on to the top of a car or other surface. It did the same to that. My rash had quieted down by then because of the cover I was using. What ever was used in the manufacturing of this couch, it causes a very bad reaction when it comes in contact with human skin, dissolves glue approved for regular use and even destroys the surface it was used on. Now that sounds like a dangerous item that should not be around any human.
If you can do nothing then let me know who can do something. Someone needs to stop its use.
Thanks for your time
