The product, in the report: FRN92RE76 Remote Control Recliner - Lift Chair
Automated Recliner with remote was sold to my elderly mother 70 years of age, She needed a chair to help come to a stance, she is suffering from stage 4 terminal cancer. She is mobile, and just needed help with getting up out of the chair. A commerical offering this product sold her on this product, it showed an elderly lady being propped up to a full stance. Our family visited the El Cajon store (Jeromes) and the sales person also exlained the uses of the chair and it would be of great help for our mom. She purchased in full payment on her credit card. She also has another chair from the same store, and uses this regulary, but decided to use the new chair yesterday and today. The chair remote does not have a kill switch, or stop mode or any modes listed. She pressed it to stand up and it literally pushed her out onto the floor. She was able to pick herself up, but with some bruising and scratches from the fall. My brother was home today, she wanted to use the chair with his assistance. Again, they tried to stop the chair, they were not able to stop the chair and he barely caught her before she fell all the way to the ground. She was bruised from my brother trying to catch her. The chair is not safe, and the commerical is misleading and other elderly people could receive more extensive injuries. We reported to our BBB locally, and call the store. The customer service reprsentative was nto helpful and not courteous and rude. I escalated to the manager, and she listened to our full complaint. She said they are not the manufacturer and only the retailer and they have no way of offering a refund, but a store credit. I told her my call was to inform them of the potential hazards of the remote feature, and they need to address ASAP. Other consumers need be aware of this chair and potentail hazards, My mother will be seen my her physician today, and we will have full medical exam. Her condition is terminal and has about 6 months per her oncologist. We are saddened by the misleading information advertised by this company and there mishandling of this serious issue.
