  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Apr 8, 2026, sent to the company Apr 13, 2026, published by CPSC Apr 27, 2026

The product, in the report: COLAMY Big and Tall Gaming Chair (Model 91311F), black/grey PU leather office/gaming chair with reclining backrest and adjustable height. Marketed as a heavy-duty chair supporting up to 400 lbs for home/office use.

I purchased a COLAMY Big and Tall chair ([REDACTED], purchased March 29, 2025). The chair was used under normal conditions with no misuse.

While sitting in the chair and leaning back under normal use, the backrest suddenly failed and gave out without warning. The failure appeared to come from the internal reclining or support mechanism. The backrest would no longer remain upright and collapses even under minimal pressure.

As a result of the sudden failure, I experienced immediate pain in my neck consistent with a minor whiplash-type injury. I did not seek medical treatment, as the injury appeared to be minor, but the incident caused discomfort and concern for safety.

The chair is now unsafe to use, as the backrest cannot support normal seated weight or pressure. This creates a risk of further injury to any user.

I contacted the manufacturer and provided photo and video evidence of the failure. The company stated the product is out of warranty by a short period, the model has been discontinued, and replacement parts are not available. No repair or replacement solution was offered.

This appears to be a structural or mechanical defect that poses a safety hazard during normal use.
