The product, in the report: Recliner Chair Colton Power Recliner Model # KXW651-L1

The consumer indicates that when a person is sitting on the chair with the recliner out and they lean slightly forward (to grab a remote, pick up a phone, etc.), the unit closes on oneself. The first time it happened to the consumer’s mother, and later to her mother’s aid.

The consumer contacted the retailer and explained the situation. She was informed that she could not return the item because it had been too long since its time of purchase. The consumer indicated that she would then contact an attorney, at which point the representative she spoke to informed her that they could send a Service Technician over to inspect the unit.

The Service Technician inspected the unit; he took the recliner out and leaned forward and the unit closed on top of him. He contacted the retailer and explained the issue. The retailer informed the consumer once again that they could not take the unit back.

The consumer continues to use the unit without ever taking the recliner out.
