First aid Made Dec 29, 2014, sent to the company Jan 14, 2015, published by CPSC Jan 29, 2015
The product, in the report: Recliner chair with manual reclining function.
We purchased our Catnapper Recliner Item#14207-236129 on 03/15/2014 from Wolf’s Furniture in Frederick, MD and received delivery on 03/29/2014. Our Catnapper Recliner broke the first time in 06/2014 and after some forth and back between Wolf’s Furniture Service Department on 06/30/2014 1:02PM about the broken recliner handle. Wolf’s was able to send us a Technician on 07/10/2014.The Technician himself had problems removing the handle and broke a hammer completely in half while trying. After a second attempt and lots of force he was able to replace the handle with the one that was sent to me earlier. In November 2014 just barley 4 month later our Catnapper Recliner’s handle broke a 2nd time again in half in the same spot almost puncturing my hand. I tried to contact the Catnapper Manufacturer Jackson Furniture under the 1 year manufacturing warranty but was referred back to the seller Wolf‘s Furniture. [REDACTED] representative I contacted by email left me a voice mail message on 11/18/14 insisting that no further action can be taken since this Catnapper chair was sold to me “as is”. Which is incorrect! No Mentioning of this during our first breakage from Wolf’s Service Department in 06/14 or 7/14 either. We tried mediation through our Maryland BBB although Wolf’s Furniture confirmed in writing to the BBB that it found this to be a known problem with this recliner they refused to declare it a manufacturers defect and only offered to replace the handle again.
