Safety Hazard Report Amala Dark Grey Leather Reclining Swivel Arm Chair (Purchased from Living Spaces)
Dear Consumer Product Safety Commission,
We are writing to formally report a serious safety incident involving an Amala Dark Grey Leather Reclining Swivel Arm Chair purchased from Living Spaces.
On November 10, 2025, while my 12-year-old]child was sitting in the chair, the main steel support steel rod of the chair broke completely in half, causing the seat to collapse suddenly. Fortunately, my child did not sustain serious injury, but the potential for harm was significant given the force of the collapse and the presence of exposed broken metal.
The chair was purchased from Living Spaces on July 5, 2018 and used under normal household conditions. The failure appears to be a structural defect in the internal steel support mechanism that compromises the integrity of the entire seating frame. This defect poses a substantial risk of injury from falls, pinching, or sharp metal edges if the chair fails while occupied.
Description of failure: Main internal steel support rod snapped in half during normal use, causing immediate seat collapse.
I am requesting that this incident be reviewed as a potential product safety hazard and that appropriate investigation or recall consideration be initiated. I am also providing this report so that similar incidents can be prevented before more serious injuries occur.
Please advise on any additional documentation, photos, or serial information that may assist your investigation.
Thank you for your attention to this serious safety matter.
