    One corner of the upper bunk bed totally broken the joint from the corner stand at midnight while my son was sleeping on the upper bunk bed and my daughter was sleeping on the lower bunk bed. Both of them were seriously scared.

    The top bunk collapsed while my son was laying on his bed sleeping, it also hit my son that was laying on the bottom bunk. The product was for two of my sons, one on the top bunk, one on the bottom. My son on the top bunk has a busted lip and my son that was on the bottom bunk was hit in the head by the railings. The injuries occurred because once it collapsed my son at the top bunk rolled and his lip hit the metal rail and my son at the bottom was hit in the head because the bed came down.

    We have owned this bunk bed for approximately two years. While my son was getting in bed tonight, the welding on the guard rail gave out completely, causing the mattress to fall from the top bunk while he was on it. He fell through the bottom and hit his head on the way down.

    The following is a description of what happened: At approximately 9:45 pm on Friday November 22nd my 10 year old daughter climbed to the top bunk and was in a sitting position. She heard a crack sound and within seconds the top bunk gave way and she fell completely through to the bottom of the bed. At the time that this happened my husband and I heard a loud crashing sound and ran to the bedroom. As we walked into the room we saw metal bars scattered throughout the room and all over the bottom bunk. After making sure that our daughter was ok we inspected the scene to try to understand what happened. It was then that we discovered that on the top bunk on the side railing in three different places the railing was welded had all snapped. This is noted in the pictures that we obtained. We also discovered that a large metal bar landed smack in the middle of the pillow on the bottom bunk exactly where my daughter sleeps. (This is also noted in one of the pictures). If my youngest daughter were laying there, this could have been a devastating outcome. We are still in shock that something like this could happen. We contacted Zinus inc. the following morning and after explaining, we were asked to make a report. We have only heard from customer support but they have offered no real solution. They even sent us a new bed but cancelled the order because I never asked for a new one. My daughter is well below the weight maximum the sum of both my daughters weights is still well below the maximum of 170 lbs. as stated in the handbook for allowed weight.
