The product, in the report: Twin over twin metal bunk bed

Purchased a twin over twin metal bunk bed for my son from Sears.com. The bed arrived and my husband and i put it together. this is a metal bed with plastic “clips” to go over the cross bars and clip them to the bed frame. Two of these clips broke from us slipping them over the bars they are meant to go on. there was no force or misuse. My son is not very heavy or big and the whole family was in the room as he sat down on the bed and two clips broke, As he sat up to get off the bed, two more clips broke. the bed seems like a good solid bed, with the exception of these plastic clips. Sears want to pick up the bed ( for a return ) and continue to sell it to others I do not want to just return the bed and get a refund while someone else’s child may be injured. The manufacturer is American Furniture Alliance and I have spoken with them and they insist they have not had any other complaints. I sent pictures to the manufacturer and have had no other response so far. I hope someone can check into this before an innocent child is hurt. If a child is on the top bunk and these give out one by one, there is nothing holding the mattress up. the child on the bottom will be injured. It is just a matter of when will this happen? I have asked if they might have metal replacements for the plastic and sadly......no.
