Information taken from the info center

I have bought a storkcraft bunk bed that I have tried to report on this site, but it will not allow me. I keep getting an error code. It was manufactured in 2012. We used it 2013 or later. Both bunk beds have now had the long wood bar that connects the foot board and headboard together break in half! Luckily, we had separated them into twin beds at the time. The first one broke when my mother-in-law sat on it to read a book to my son (Both combined weight probably under 210 lbs). Luckily no one was hurt. The second one broke today, 2/3/2021. Three kids under the age of 7 were playing in the bedroom. My guess is maybe they were jumping from one twin bed to the other, that is only maybe 24 inches apart. My kids know they are not allowed to do this, but they had friends over, and the only one in the room at the time was my almost 4 year old. Luckily when this split in half no one was hurt except me! (I was cleaning the bed up and throwing it out, and an exposed screw got my finger, just a bit of blood). This is scary that this can happen. What if they were in bunk beds at the time they broke in half?!? Scary! I do have photos if you want them. The product, in the report: Storkcraft Long Horn Bunk Bed, White http://www.walmart.com/ip/Storkcraft-Long-Horn-Bunk-Bed-White/20440619

I have a real concern about the following product: “Storkcraft Long Horn Bunk Bed, White” http://www.walmart.com/ip/Storkcraft-Long-Horn-Bunk-Bed-White/20440619

I bought this bunk bed from Walmart.com on 5/25/2014 and received it early June 2014. I assembled the beds separately (both on the floor) because they did not appear sturdy. My hunches were true, and on the first day, the main rail (labeled C1) collapsed as soon as my 10 year old daughter sat on it (73 lbs). She may have sat on it with some excitement as it was a new bed in her new shared room. I have a photo that shows it, incident happened on 6/17/2014. I contacted Storkcraft and they sent a replacement rail. On 6/30, I found out that the rail on the second bed was cracked severely and may collapse while my other daughter slept on it (7 years old, 60 lbs). I have a photo that shows it as well. I contacted Storkcraft again and they sent me another replacement rail. On 7/29/2015, about 13 months later, the first bed’s rail collapsed again when my 10 year old sat on it. I have a photo of this as well.

Three failures of the rail in less than 13 months made me realize that these beds are dangerous and of an inferior quality, and should be recalled before real injuries occur. I used my common sense and did not install them as bunk beds, that could be ending in serious injuries if one of my daughters would have fallen from the upper bed due to structural failure (of a fairly new bed).

I contacted Storkcraft again, but this time they requested that I would pay for the part because it wasn’t covered by their warranty. I replied that I would prefer spending money on a new bed instead and I let them know what I think about their beds.

I am contacting you in the hope that you would force this company to issue a safety recall and either replace the beds or refund all of its customers.

I bought a Storkcraft Caribou bunk bed in cherry finish from amazon.com on 3/19/2013. I assembled it on 3/22/13. The slats that support the mattresses are too narrow. When an adult got into the bottom bunk on 3/23/13, the slats detached from the railing, the mattress plummeted down, the railing splintered, and several sharp screws were exposed.

We own a storkcraft bunkbed in the caribou style; product number 09720-129.

Our bed has cracked in the side rail that connects the head and footboards this damage is far beyond the capabilities of its 30 pound occupant. The damage is very similar to a recall you issued the 5th of this month from [another company]. Our damage was noticed this last weekend by my older son. The crack goes all the way through the wood and I have no apparent recourse in this matter. I have tried to contact the Storkcraft company and send them pictures of this damage but my emails are rejected due to the fact that they don’t recieve messages with pictures. I want a new side rail from the company and our bed it right on the border of being covered by their 1 year warrenty. I have been unable to reach the company by phone at this point.
