  1. No one hurt

Made Sep 10, 2025, sent to the company Mar 20, 2026, published by CPSC Sep 30, 2025

The product, in the report: Oakley Gray Bunk Bed SKU: 9717999 Size: Twin/Full Color: GRAY

While my child was using the bunk bed ladder to climb to the top bunk, the top section of the wooden ladder developed a large crack. The crack is deep and continues to expand, leaving a sharp edge and a gap in the wood. This makes the ladder unstable and unsafe. We stopped using the bed immediately due to the risk of serious injury. What type of product was being used? A wooden bunk bed with an attached ladder. Who was using the product? My child (a minor). How was the product being used? The ladder was being used in the normal way for climbing up and down from the top bunk. Were there any injuries that happened or may have happened while using the product? No injuries have occurred yet, but there is a serious risk of both falls and cuts. How did any injuries occur (or could have occurred)? The ladder could break completely while a child is climbing, leading to a fall from height and possible broken bones, head trauma, or other serious injuries. The sharp split in the wood could cut a childs skin when holding onto the ladder. A childs toe or foot could get caught in the crack while climbing down, causing tripping and a fall.
