The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Aug 15, 2011, sent to the company Sep 19, 2011, published by CPSC Oct 3, 2011

The product, in the report: bunk beds; one stacked on the other. Pine wood. Purchased at ShopKo.

We bought the bunkbed about nine months ago. The wood broke twice in the first two months, one of them a serious side rail split that shot out sideways with a jagged dangerous point that could have seriously injured someone if they were standing there. We reported it, fixed it and continued to use the product. Now as my son got out of bed there was a loud crack and the lower third of the support frame of the upper bunk just snapped out because the wood broke. My son was stuck in the bed frame between his mattress and the side rail and it took adult assistance to remove him. Thank God our other son was not in his lower bunk at the time.
