The product, in the report: Here’s the link to the product listing on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09MD36JVX?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1 Harper & Bright Designs Twin Bunk Bed with Slide, Solid Wood Low L-Shape Bunk Bed Frame with Ladder, Safety Rail for Kids Teen, No Box Spring Needed (White) Someone had mentioned to me that the material is what likely caused the incident. The Engineered Wood seemed to have had a failure where it broke along a glue line
My kids were sleeping in their bunk bed. My daugher is on the top, my son on the bottom. My daughter rolls over while sleep and the bed collapses in the corner. Luckily, my son on the bottom was sleeping with his head facing the opposite direction that night, so he was unharmed but if he were sleeping the same direction as my daughter he could have been seriously hurt or killed.
We reached out to Amazon and the seller and they told us there’s nothing that we can do, they won’t refund us, and that we should consider buying a new bed. Their exact words were “It is advised that you reorder a new bed for better use.”
People have asked if the bolts came loose. No, in the attached photo you can see where the wood fractured. I think it’s due to so many holes in the wood so close, in a not very thick board, and the fact that it’s Manufactured Wood, so glued pieces of wood together. It seems like it came loose at the connection between two pieces that were glued together.
Other people asked if we had overtightened it. Also unlikely, because there’s no evidence of damage to the wood where the bolts were. I hand-tightened and am cautious not to overtighten.
