She says the screws have continuously come out. She says they do not use them as bunk bed because it is a danger. The consumer is experiencing the same hazard as listed in Release # 11-214.

The product, in the report: Dorel Asia Separable bunk beds *Honey Pine Color

The boards supporting the mattress have snapped in half causing the mattress to fall through on the upper bunk in result my son obtaining swelling and bruising on his forehead. Same problem occurred on my other sons bed as well once the beds were detached not resulting in injury but the boards snapping and the mattress falling through. You will see that nailing down the boards is also a problem being that when weight is put on the bed, it splits right through the wood which does not allow for a lot of weight put on these. These are my twin 3 year old boys using these beds, a 3 year old does not weigh much. The board snap and fall leaving the nail in the main frame causing them to hurt themselves on that as well. The main frame is cracked. I do not know how the problem will be fixed when part of the main frame is cracked. i have stopped using this product all together and my boys sleep on their mattresses on the floor after these incidents have happened. In all reality i would like my money back for this product, through the reviews i see the fix kits are not very reliable & involve alot of communication delays

The product, in the report: wood bunk beds

Purchased this bunk bed set early 2010. It was setup using the instruction provided in packaging. Over the course of time (Approximately 6-12 months later) two of the 5 boards under each bed were cracked or broken.

The items were used by children between ages 6-9 and therefore product should have been able to hold the weight of each child.

The product, in the report: Bunk Bed

I have a similar model to the bunkbeds recalled by Dorel Asia SRL previously. I own model WM2450 in Honey Pine and purchased the product in early spring of 2010. One of the cross support beams that hold up the mattress has split in half, the screw on one side splitting the support beam the runs beneath the rows of mattress cross supports. I have heard creaking from the remaining boards when I’m making the bed as well as when my children crawl into bed. No one was injured during the incident, but it does cause me worry, especially with the other recalls noted for the exact same issue.

The product, in the report: Dorel Asia light wood bunk, Model #DA1026P

In May a bunk bed by this company was recalled (Model #DA1026P) so I contacted the company for the repair kit. When we got it, all the pieces were mismatched but we tried to make the best of it. Once applying the kit though, we realized it was damaging the wood because they were ill-fitting or non-fitting. So, I contacted the company again and was asked to take pictures of the damage, which I did, and sent to them. I got a reply saying thanks for the pictures, please sent your contact info so we can better help you, and since, have heard nothing. I contacted them again, and have now been told they never received the pictures, even though in their reply emails it clearly stated they did. We are now left with beds that are even unsafer than before, and still absolutely no fix at all. I assume others are having the same issue so these unsafe bunks are still out there.

The product, in the report: dorel bunk bed

I own the Dorel Asia bunk beds that were just recalled, but not with the model numbers affected by the recall. However, I sleep in the bottom bunk and my 9 year old is in the top bunk, and I have often heard cracking when he roles over in the slats that allegedly support the bed. My husband put a sheet of wood under his mattress because we were so concerned. The bunk bed has a model number of WM 2450 manufactured 5 2009 and purchased from Walmart. Please encourage the company to expand their recall. Thank you. Signed, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Dorel Bunk Beds from Wal-Mart

We had just put this bunk bed together a week or so before my 10-year-old daughter fell through the top bunk. Luckily, my 5-year-old son was on the other end of the bottom bed because a slat of wood broke in half with very sharp edges, ripping from the side. No one was hurt, but it is not very comforting to know that the bed could break that easily. My daughter weighs about 80 pounds, so she was well under the weight limit and this should not have happened.

At least in our case, I believe the accident happened because the boards do not fit flush with the full width of the bed so the screws were too close to the edge instead of further back into the meat of the wood. I also do not see how the spacing of these boards is safe, but the company assured me it is up to standards and would not send any extra slats to fill in the big gaps.

The product, in the report: Dorel Pine Bunkbed

I read a recall notice in the news about Dorel Bunkbeds. Since the picture looked similar to the bed we have for our girls, I immediately checked to see if ours was included in the recall.

It isn’t. Ours is model# WM1848R3C, manufactured 10-2009XGX. However, the side rail of the top bunk is broken, and I have been quite concerned about it.

The broken pieces include the safety rail which runs from the top bunk’s headboard to where the ladder joins the bed. There should be a bar that holds it steady and secure half-way between the headboard and ladder, which screws vertically into the three horizontal boards.

When we put the bed together, this piece would not stay attached. We kept it in place for a while, even though it kept breaking at the slightest touch.

Thankfully, there have been no injuries. I intend to contact the company now, though, since similar models of the bed have been recalled due to the same type of problem.

You may contact me if you need pictures or more details.
