The product, in the report: The bunk bed is honey oak and has a futon full-size lower bunk with a twin upper bunk. There are steps with drawers. The wood is a very shiny oak color and has a heavy stain/chemical smell.

I bought a children’s bunk bed for my young son on Amazon from Mattress Firm with Donoco as the importer. The bed frame was smashed so I had to wait 3 months for a replacement. The wood frame had a very strong stain smell so we left it outside for almost 6 months thinking that it had just been stained prior to shipping. We installed the bed, but he always complained that his room smelled. I did not fully understand the extent of the stain smell until I was lying on his bed one evening and could smell the stain. The drawers also emitted a strong smell when opened. I asked both Donoco and Mattress Firm for a refund and also for them to investigate this hazardous situation. No person, and especially a child, should have a bed with such a strong stain odor. I also invested $300 for assembly and again $300 for disassembly. It is once again sitting on the driveway. I am not sure what to do with it. I am also fearful that other children are being adversely affected by the chemical smell. My son has suffered from headaches since December. I also had been having headaches with a noticeable change since we removed the furniture. By the way, after disassembly, I found a stamp on the furniture for 2017 which means that the stain/paint utilized is either defective or for exterior use only.

We ask 1. The furniture is investigated for safety or recalled. 2. We are reimbursed for the furniture and our costs Thank you
